Elysé and Nuevo Retro blend smoky soul, gritty blues, and raw rock ‘n’ roll into a powerhouse sound soaked in vintage flair and modern fire. Fronted by the unmistakable Elysé—whose low, sultry vocals echo the timeless power of Etta James—this is music that’s as emotionally charged as it is musically seasoned.
Elysé brings a captivating presence and voice that feels pulled from the jazz clubs of the ’40s and ’50s, yet hits with a relevance and intensity that’s undeniably current. Partnering with renowned Austin-based guitarist, singer, and producer Lance Keltner, the band quickly carved a signature sound: dirty blues grooves, soul-soaked vocals, and searing guitar work wrapped in real-life stories and whiskey-drenched grit.
Keltner, a seasoned recording artist and sideman to legends like Rod Stewart, Phil Lewis (L.A. Guns), and Johnny Rawls, has released music on labels like Atco East/West, Mascot, and Ulftone Records. His guitar work graces Rawls’ Ace of Spades, which won Blues Album of the Year. Behind the scenes, he’s honed his production chops with icons like Jim Gaines (ZZ Top, Santana, Steve Miller), Ross Hogarth (Van Halen, Jewel, Keb' Mo'), and rock legend Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones).
Keltner introduced Elysé to his long-time collaborators—Mike Moyer (bass/vocals), Cole Hanson (guitar/vocals), and Kevin Lance (drums/vocals)—each a veteran of national tours and top-tier studio sessions. The chemistry was instant. Within months, Elysé and Nuevo Retro recorded a 10-track debut album that has already caught the attention of major labels, alongside a new 5-song blues EP earning comparisons to an "Amy Winehouse of the Blues."
With a relentless work ethic and a fire to match their sound, the band plans to hit the road hard in 2025—playing up to 250 dates a year. This is music made for the stage, the soul, and the smoke-filled bar in your memory.
